Bio: Dr. Akhtar is an accomplished Family Medicine program director with a deep passion for geriatrics. With years of experience in the field, Dr. Akhtar is dedicated to shaping the future of medicine by educating and mentoring residents and medical students. Known for her exceptional mentoring skills, she emphasizes the importance of building a strong professional network and fostering a supportive learning environment. Through her guidance, she inspires the next generation of healthcare professionals to thrive in their careers while providing quality care to the community.

Jade Funck, DO, Core Faculty

Medical School: Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harrogate, TN

Residency: Adena Health System, Chillicothe, OH

Bio: Dr. Funck is an osteopathic family medicine physician passionate about longitudinal patient care, education, and quality improvement. She practices comprehensive family medicine, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and behavioral health. Residents will spend extensive time with her in the continuity clinic. She enjoys family-time, traveling, hiking, and great food.

Michael Ladd, MD, Core Faculty

Residency: HCA Healthcare/Mercer University School of Medicine/Grand Strand Medical Center

Bio: Dr. Ladd is a dedicated family medicine-trained hospitalist in Augusta, GA, where he moved after completing his residency. He plays a key role in educating and mentoring future physicians. Outside of medicine, he enjoys exercising, cycling, hiking, cooking, and traveling.

Daryl Wiley, MD, Core Faculty

Residency: Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center

Bio: Dr. Wiley is an experienced Family Medicine provider serving the Thomson, GA community. He is dedicated to caring for the rural population and offers a wide range of primary care services, including various outpatient procedures. Dr. Wiley continuously seeks to enhance his medical practice and contribute positively to his community.
