Program Curriculum
Our program is structured to encourage the resident's mastery of the knowledge, clinical skills and attitudes essential for the effective practice of general surgery.
Residents are provided the opportunity to develop their clinical maturity, judgment and technical ability under the guidance and supervision of highly experienced community-based attending staff.
Residents experience an increasing degree of patient care responsibilities in a high volume, demographically diverse surgery department in several of our medical centers under the consortium.
In addition, the residency offers a unique opportunity to broaden individual interests through exposure to a variety of sub-specialty surgical medicine-related activities including field operations, international medicine, ultrasound, pediatric surgery and various research opportunities.
The majority of training will be at Medical City Arlington and Medical City Plano. Additional exposure to general surgery will be at Medical City North Hills, Medical City Denton, Medical City Dallas, and Medical City Children's Hospital. All training sites are located in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area.
