Mission Statement
The Medical City Weatherford Internal Medicine Residency Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.
Program Overview
The Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at Medical City Weatherford is an accredited and rigorous program designed to train the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. The program is a full-time course of instruction which shall be a minimum of 36 months in duration. A minimum of 33 months must include supervised management of patients (clinical rotations).
The program has up to eight available positions per year (24 total) and 12 preliminary positions per year.
At Medical City Weatherford, we are committed to providing a wealth of medical education to our residents. However, we also understand the importance of allowing bonds to form between classmates and the significance of resting to avoid mental fatigue. Time away from the hospital is included in the curriculum to satisfy these needs. Residents are encouraged to form friendships and take time to recharge so that they can perform at their best in the clinical setting.
Choosing a program location is a very personal decision largely based on where you want to settle, and if Texas is your likely destination, then training at Medical City Weatherford makes good sense.
Weatherford is approximately 35 miles from Downtown Fort Worth and approximately 60 miles from Dallas. It is known as the "cutting horse" capital of the world and has been ranked one of the best cities to relocate to in America.
