John C. Witt, MD, MTS

Dr. Witt is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology, and electrodiagnostic medicine. A graduate of the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine, he did postgraduate training at Washington University and Mayo Clinic. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Tennessee and the new Belmont University Frist College of Medicine, with special interest in international medical education.
Adrian A. Jarquin-Valdivia, MD, RDMS
Associate Program Director, Neurology Residency
Dr. Valdivia is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology, internal medicine, medical imaging, critical care medicine, and neurocritical care. Following medical school in Honduras, he did postgraduate training at the University of Texas Southwestern, University of Utah, Mayo Clinic, and University of California-San Francisco, and served on the Vanderbilt University neurology faculty.
Michael Kaminski, MD, FAAN
Director, Neurology GME Continuity Clinic
Dr. Kaminski is board certified in neurology and internal medicine. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he did postgraduate training at the University of Michigan and Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to his work with neurology, Dr. Kaminski teaches in our internal medicine GME program.
Kelsey Peters, MD
Co-Director, Neurology GME Continuity Clinic
Dr. Peters is board certified in neurology. Following graduation from Indiana University School of Medicine, she completed a neuromuscular fellowship with Vanderbilt University and directs our neuromuscular division in addition to teaching in the resident continuity clinic.
Mary Ellen Clinton, MD
Teaching Faculty, TriStar Skyline
Dr. Clinton is board certified in neurology and practices at TriStar Skyline Medical Center. A graduate of the USC Keck School of Medicine, she did postgraduate training in neurology, internal medicine, and neuromuscular disease at Vanderbilt where she later served as full-time faculty and director of the muscle biopsy lab.
J. Eric Pina-Garza, MD
Director of Child Neurology, TriStar Centennial Children’s GME
Director of Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Dr. Pina-Garza is board certified in pediatrics and child neurology, with fellowship training in epileptology. After medical school in Mexico, he did postgraduate study at Children’s Hospital of Austin and Vanderbilt University. Formerly on the faculty at Vanderbilt, his popular textbook Fenichel’s Clinical Pediatric Neurology is in its 8th Edition.
Samir Bangalore, MD
Director, Skyline Epilepsy Clinic and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Dr. Bangalore is board certified in neurology, epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, and sleep medicine. Following medical school at Northwestern, he completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Chicago. He previously established and directed the Level 4 Epilepsy Center at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, and is joining the TriStar Neurology Faculty to establish a new Epilepsy Center here in Nashville.
Lavanya Nagineni, MD, MBBS
Teaching Faculty, TriStar Skyline and Centennial
Division Chief for Ambulatory Neurology, and Director for Headache Clinic
Dr. Nagineni is board certified in neurology. She earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University Medical Center, and completed fellowship training in Neuromuscular Disease and Neurophysiology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In addition to inpatient teaching, she will assist with neuromuscular and headache medicine and the EMG laboratory.
Phaniraj Iyengar, MD, MBBS, MBA
Core Faculty, TriStar Centennial
Medical Director, Stroke and Neurocritical Care, TriStar Centennial Medical Center
Dr. Iyengar is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology, neurocritical care, neuroimaging, and healthcare quality management. Following his initial studies in India and the United Kingdom, he trained at Yale, UC Davis, and Barrow Neurologic Institute.
