Program overview
HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is a 529-bed hospital and high-volume cardiovascular center serving the Treasure Coast region. The hospital provides wide spectrum cardiac pathology areas, including diagnostic cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart care, electrophysiology, cardiac device therapy, transesophageal echocardiogram, echocardiography, and nuclear medicine. The cardiovascular program is supported by 10 cardiologists who perform both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Lawnwood also has a strong foundation in graduate medical education, with established residency programs in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Transitional Medicine, and General Surgery. These programs demonstrate the hospital's commitment to teaching, mentorship, and the development of future physicians. They also contribute to a collaborative clinical environment where residents, physicians, and care teams work together across multiple specialties.
Beyond clinical training, HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital maintains an active academic environment that supports research, scholarly activity, and publication. Physicians, residents, and clinical teams, collaborate on clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, case-based scholarship, and other academic efforts aimed at advancing evidence-based care. This work has resulted in multiple publications and reflects Lawnwood's continued focus on innovation, learning, and clinical excellence.
The cardiovascular program's annual procedural volume highlights the depth and breadth of care provided at Lawnwood. Across tracked invasive and advanced cardiovascular categories, the program completed approximately 3,270 procedures, including 1,911 LHC/RHC procedures, 839 PCI procedures, 68 Micra procedures, 99 AICD implants, 61 permanent pacemaker implants, 146 EP studies and ablations, 135 TAVR procedures, 148 Watchman procedures, 132 loop recorder procedures, and 39 mitral clip procedures.
The clinical spectrum of cardiology procedural diversity provides meaningful exposure to a wide range of cardiovascular conditions and treatments, including invasive cardiology, coronary intervention, cardiac device therapy, structural heart disease, and rhythm management. Together, Lawnwood's clinical volume, academic culture, residency infrastructure, and experienced physician team create a strong environment to support the development of a Cardiology Fellowship Program.
