Cherian Jacob, MD

Interim Program Director

Dr. Cherian Jacob serves as the Interim Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at HCA Lawnwood Hospital. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine, bringing over a decade of clinical expertise to his role. Since the program’s inception, he has served as core faculty, previously holding the position of Associate Program Director before stepping into his current leadership role. His commitment to medical education extends beyond residency training, with experience in standardized test development, tutoring, and teaching medical students and residents.

Since joining HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in 2021 as part of the Intensive Care Consortium (ICC), Dr. Jacob has served as ICU Director for ICC and contributed to multiple hospital committees, including the Critical Care Council, Quality Council, and the Credentialing/Re-Credentialing Committee. He looks forward to continuing to advance the residency program and further strengthening his leadership within the hospital community.

Associate Program Directors & Simulation Champions

Prasad Chalasani, MD

Dr. Prasad Chalasani serves as an Associate Program Director since inception of our program in 2023.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Computer Tomography. He has been an attending at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for over 28 years. He was faculty at Emory University School of Medicine, currently a Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor at Florida Atlantic University. He is Chairman of the Cardiology Department at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital and heads the Cardiac Cath Laboratories. He has been principle investigator of many clinical trials over last 3 decades, actively publishes in peer reviewed journals. He has been a key faculty in teaching medical students, residents and cardiology fellows at Florida Heart Center which he manages and at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital. He has mentored our residents in clinical research since inception, resulting in publications in top-tier journals and presentations at state and national conferences. He is very passionate about teaching clinical skills, evidence-based medicine, medical ethics and leadership. He received many awards locally and internationally. 

Alicia Kilian, DO

Dr. Alicia Kilian serves as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has been core faculty at HCA Florida Lawnwood since the start of its Internal Medicine Residency Program. She is a native Florida resident who trained at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. Along with her medical degree, she has a master’s degree in public health with a focus on disparities in medicine. She is committed to providing quality education for residents and medical students and serving the community.

Dr. Kilian serves as the Wellness Coordinator for the program and is dedicated to fostering well-being and a providing a robust environment for residents to train. Apart from her role with GME, she serves as an Associate Site Medical Director for HCA Lawnwood and is an active member in hospital committees including the Credentialing/Re-Credentialing Committee, Medical Audit Committee and Telemetry operations.

Juan “Nick” Kattán, MD

Dr. Nick Kattán serves as the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital. With board certifications in Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Kattán brings over a decade of clinical, academic, and administrative experience to his role. He completed his residency at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County and an Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. His leadership spans multiple domains, including medical informatics, point-of-care ultrasound, and systems integration. A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Kattán has received numerous teaching and clinical excellence awards and actively contributes to national committees focused on performance measurement and quality improvement. His commitment to innovation and compassionate care continues to shape the future of hospital medicine and medical education.
