Welcome from our Program Director
Thank you for your interest in our General Surgery Residency Program. We are proud to share that we now have four years of resident classes, having welcomed our inaugural class of three categorical surgery residents in 2022.
Our program is designed to provide a well-rounded surgical training experience, supported by an outstanding faculty representing a broad range of subspecialties, including Pediatric Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical Oncology (hepatopancreatobiliary, gastrointestinal, breast, melanoma, endocrine), Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care. Residents benefit from excellent case volume and exposure to all surgical modalities, including minimally invasive and Da Vinci robotic techniques.
We are especially proud of our state-of-the-art Simulation Center, featuring virtual reality laparoscopic and endoscopic trainers, ultrasound trainers, central venous access and endotracheal intubation trainers, and a dedicated full-time Simulation Center manager to optimize surgical skills training.
Our program offers three categorical positions per year and is part of the HCA Graduate Medical Education family, the largest GME provider in the United States.

Our mission at Los Robles is to give high quality training to the next generation of physicians. We aim to create a balance between clinical training, simulation, practicing evidence-based surgical care, promoting research and ensuring resident wellness. Our focus will be to integrate our residents into our wonderful community, so we may provide excellent care to the people of Thousand Oaks and Ventura County.

The Los Robles Regional Medical Center General Surgery Residency Program's mission is to develop the next generation of surgeons and surgeon-leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents' perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.
