Family Medicine Residency Program
Our Family Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to providing the support, training, and resources needed to prepare you to become a compassionate, skilled, and successful family physician.
We focus not only on providing comprehensive clinical training in Family Medicine, but also on fostering personal and professional growth through a strong foundation of medical knowledge, compassionate patient care, and lifelong learning.
Evaluation of each rotation is based on the established curriculum and includes assessment of medical knowledge, clinical performance, and professional interactions with patients, peers, faculty, and staff. Our curriculum follows the framework outlined in the ACGME Family Medicine Milestones and Core Competencies.
To ensure a comprehensive and objective assessment process, we utilize 360-degree evaluations, faculty assessments, and clinical quality performance data. The use of multiple evaluation methods promotes consistency and provides residents with meaningful feedback to support their individual learning goals and professional development throughout residency.
Inpatient Rotations
Inpatient rotations provide residents with exposure to a broad spectrum of diseases and complex clinical conditions within an environment that emphasizes integrated healthcare delivery. Residents benefit from close faculty supervision, real-time feedback, and hands-on experience that fosters a deeper understanding of patient care in the inpatient setting.
Didactics
Didactic sessions are held every Friday from 8:00am to noon. This protected educational time is mandatory for all residents, except those assigned to night rotations. Residents are excused from their clinical duties to participate in these educational activities.
Scholarly Activity
HCA Healthcare is committed to supporting resident scholarship through a comprehensive research infrastructure designed to help residents develop the skills necessary to conduct meaningful research while maintaining their clinical responsibilities.
All residents participate in scholarly activity and receive support from the North Texas Division Director of Research and the North Texas Division Research Liaison, who provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight throughout the research process.
Each research project includes at least one faculty mentor to assist residents in developing, conducting, and presenting their work.
This approach ensures that residents graduate with the knowledge and experience needed to incorporate scholarly inquiry and evidence-based medicine into their future practice.
