Welcome to Our Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
Thank you for considering the HCA Houston Healthcare / University of Houston (Clear Lake) Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.
Our mission is to prepare physicians to deliver exceptional, evidence-based care to critically ill patients while developing into skilled clinicians, educators, quality leaders, and multidisciplinary team members.
About our program
HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake offers a broad, high-acuity critical care environment with more than 80 intensive care beds, a Level II Trauma Center, and 24/7 in-house intensivist coverage with two intensivists on site at all times.
Clinical experiences encompass medical, trauma/neurosurgical, cardiovascular and other specialty intensive care settings, supported by a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Our advanced critical care resources include both venovenous (VV) and venoarterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), together with multidisciplinary respiratory, pharmacy, nursing, and specialty services.
The fellowship emphasizes complex decision-making, resuscitation, hemodynamics, mechanical ventilation, point-of-care ultrasound, neurologic emergencies, end-of-life communication, and family-centered care.
Fellows participate in teaching, scholarship, peer review, and structured quality and patient-safety initiatives.
