Welcome from our program director
We are proud to introduce our Critical Care Fellowship Director, Dr. Nabir Babbar — intensivist, educator, ECMO Medical Director, and dedicated leader committed to shaping the next generation of critical care physicians.
Program overview
The HCA Florida Healthcare/Westside/Northwest Hospital Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program is dedicated to developing expert intensivists who deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients across a wide range of clinical settings.
Guided by HCA Healthcare's mission — "Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life" — our program provides a structured and academically rigorous learning environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and compassionate patient care.
Fellows receive comprehensive training in medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiovascular critical care while developing advanced expertise in bedside procedures, point-of-care ultrasound, ventilator management, ECMO, shock management, and ethical decision-making in the ICU.
Our fellowship is designed to prepare physicians not only to excel in complex critical care environments, but also to become future leaders in academic medicine, quality improvement, and systems-based care. Through simulation training, research opportunities, mentorship, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, fellows gain the skills necessary to thrive in high-acuity settings and deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
As a regional ECMO referral center with an expanding advanced critical care program, we are committed to advancing the future of ICU medicine through innovation, education, teamwork, and excellence.
Welcome to the next generation of Critical Care Medicine.
