Welcome from our program director
Welcome to Transition Year Training Program at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia! Our facility has served the community of Savannah and surrounding area since 1955. We are an 800+ Licensed bed hospital and a regional referral center for stroke, cardiovascular care, cancer care, trauma, pediatrics, and high-risk obstetrics as well as the only level 1 trauma center in the region and the only Level 4 NICU in the region.
About our program
A TY year spent at Memorial will be an immersion in pathology and clinical experience that rivals any large university hospital system.
If you choose to train with us, you will learn how to function in a variety of clinical settings. We strive to create a learning environment that allows our trainees to gain medical and surgical knowledge in a safe, informed manner. We will do everything we can to help guide our residents into a career they can enjoy and in which they find meaning.
We serve as the Savannah campus of Mercer University School of Medicine. Our close relationship with Mercer offers our residents the opportunity to develop and utilize their teaching skills and provides a student body willing and able to help in all facets of research and scholarly activity as well as community engagement. Our Mercer campus boasts a well-stocked and state of the art simulation lab to help with many procedures you may need to know on our TY Rotations.
Our Pediatrics department has a new and state of the art 60 bed children's hospital. Our Surgical teams do everything BUT transplant and burns, meaning our TY residents will get experience with trauma surgery, general surgery, with opportunities in Ambulatory surgery clinic and Surgical Oncology.
Our Hospitals and Clinics use a state-of-the-art version of the EPIC Electronic Medical Record. We integrate technology with Point of Care Ultrasound and other state of the art technology. Starting in 2025 HCA has invested now well over 1 billion dollars into improving our campus from both a structural and technological standpoint which has resulted in one of the best resourced graduate medical education programs in the country.
