Sunil R. Ramaswamy, MD, Core Faculty
Dr. Sunil R. Ramaswamy, MD is a board-certified attending physician in Critical Care Medicine at Riverside Community Hospital, where he cares for patients across the medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiovascular intensive care units. He holds academic appointments as a Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California Riverside School of Medicine, Assistant Professor at California University of Science and Medicine, and Clinical Adjunct Instructor at AT Still University. His clinical interests include acute resuscitation, advanced management of shock, and cardiac arrest care, with a focus on delivering compassionate, targeted, and evidence-based treatment during the most critical moments. Recognized for his excellence on both the patient and educational fronts, Dr. Ramaswamy was named Physician of the Year at Riverside Community Hospital in 2024 and has also received the Inpatient Teacher of the Year Award from the Internal Medicine residency.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Ramaswamy is passionate about nurturing the next generation of physician leaders. He incorporates simulation, case-based learning, and innovative teaching strategies to prepare trainees for the realities of intensive care medicine. Beyond technical skill, he emphasizes developing the ability to lead under stress, fostering resilience, teamwork, and clinical judgment in high-stakes environments. He teaches the full spectrum of critical care — from stabilizing the undifferentiated patient, to guiding recovery from the ICU, and, when cure is not possible, helping patients and families navigate the end of life with dignity and compassion. Through his dual commitment to patients and learners, Dr. Ramaswamy strives to model both professional excellence and humanity at the bedside.
Ahmad Alazzeh, MD, Core Faculty
Dr. Ahmad Alazzeh completed his Internal Medicine residency, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship training in Tennessee. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Alazzeh is skilled in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of pulmonary diseases and the care of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. His clinical focus is on the evaluation and treatment of lung cancer and pulmonary nodules. He has received advanced procedural training in robotic bronchoscopy, cryobiopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), endobronchial valve placement for emphysema, percutaneous tracheostomy, and PleurX chest catheter placement.
Dr. Alazzeh is an active member of several professional societies, including the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), the American Thoracic Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. His commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care is reflected in his clinical practice and ongoing contributions to the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
