Didactics
Residents in the Transitional Year Program participate in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary didactic curriculum led by dedicated faculty, with protected time to ensure a meaningful educational experience.
The curriculum incorporates a variety of high-quality learning resources, including structured platforms such as Uwold and Amboss, and emphasizes active learning through case-based discussions and interactive sessions.
Educational experience includes regular journal clubs, grand rounds, case conferences, and Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) conferences, along with step 3 comlex-focused review sessions. Didactics are designed to provide a broad clinical foundation that supports residents entering a wide range of advanced specialties, while fostering critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and lifelong learning skills.
Rotations
The Transitional Year (PGY-1) curriculum is designed to provide a broad, well-balanced clinical foundation through diverse core rotations and elective opportunities. Residents gain experience across multiple disciplines to support a wide range of advanced specialty pathways.
Core Rotations include:
- Internal Medicine (Inpatient)
- Internal Medicine (Outpatient)
- Emergency Medicine
- General Surgery
Elective Rotations:
Residents also have dedicated elective time to tailor their training experience based on individual career goals and intended specialty pathways.
