Curriculum Highlights & Rotation Schedule
The Transitional Year residency is one-year program. A sample curriculum for the year is provided below:
PGY1
Internal Medicine
- Inpatient: 3 months
- Outpatient: 1 month
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- 1 month
Emergency Medicine
- 1 month
Surgery
- 1 month
Electives*
- 6 months
*Elective time may be used for subspecialty rotations that align with the resident's advanced specialty (PGY2) year or any other specialties of interest (e.g., dermatology electives if you're going into dermatology).
