    About HCA Florida Northwest Hospital

    Located in close proximity to each other, Westside- and Northwest Hospital are collaborating in shared support of more than 13 residency and fellowship programs with over 160 residents and fellows, are actively engaged in the strategic growth of additional GME programs; Westside Hospital is expected to achieve Florida Statutory Teaching Hospital status by 2024.

    Westside hospital, a full-service 250-bed facility, and Northwest Hospital, a full-service 289-bed facility, have served the needs of the Margate, Coconut Creek, Coral springs and Parkland areas of Broward County for over 30-45 years. Both hospitals have recently completed multi-million-dollar renovation and expansion efforts that added state-of-the-art patient care capabilities and expanded ED and OBGYN services, among others, and new modern GME spaces.

    Both hospitals have achieved Stroke Center certification, Cardiac Care Center certification, with recognition as being among America’s top 100 / top 10% hospitals in these areas, from Healthgrades and The Joint Commission. In addition, the hospitals achieved 5-start recognition by Healthgrades for Minimally-invasive and Bariatric Surgery, Colo-rectal Surgery, and Gastrointestinal services, as well as Obstetrics and Gynecologic services.

    Hospital- and GME leadership are proud to deliver world-class education to the residents and fellows in the HCA Westside/Northwest Hospital GME programs, in a collegial, supportive and collaborative environment that is focused on resident wellness/satisfaction and the success of each learner. Aventura’s GME programs boast near 100% initial attempt specialty board pass rates, over 90% fellowship match rates for those residents seeking sub-specialty training, retention of > 30% of graduates with HCA or its strategic clinical partners, and active engagement of all of its learners in research and scholarship.

    The areas around Margate and Plantation, Florida, boast idyllic and lively communities in the heart of South Florida and Broward County. Less than ½ hour away from Fort Lauderdale and a variety of beach communities, residents can enjoy an abundance of outdoor and cultural -activities. Both areas also offer low crime rates and affordable housing.
