Dr Amanda Finley, MD, Program Director, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. She is a founding faculty member and serves as the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the UCF/HCA Florida Healthcare (Fort Walton-Destin).

She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Magnolia Regional Hospital, Corinth, Mississippi, where she also served as Chief Resident, Core Faculty, and Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee. She was the founding program director at Henry County Medical Center and worked with state and federal programs to build focus on the importance of rural primary care training.

Dr. Finley's academic interests are in education and hospital medicine. Her goal as an educator is to empower learners, foster a positive, exciting learning environment, and infuse a desire for obtaining/receiving/implementing feedback. She aims to balance this approach with a focus on the learner's well-being and career goals.

As Program Director, Dr. Finley is primarily responsible for overseeing and administering the program. She will provide clinical supervision, oversee the didactic curriculum, conduct administration, and complete scholarly activities.

Dr. Robert A Obeid, MD, FACP, Associate Program Director, is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. He is a core faculty member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the UCF/HCA Florida (Fort Walton-Destin).

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. Following residency, he served as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he focused on quality improvement projects to decrease hospital mortality and improve patient outcomes in sepsis. In 2023, he served as the CHI (Catholic Health Initiatives) Texas Division Sepsis Chair.

Dr. Obeid's academic interest is focused on hospital-based medicine. As an educator, his goal is to establish a comfortable learning environment that promotes scholarly discussions and sparks excitement around the practice of medicine. As core faculty, Dr. Obeid supervises clinical supervision, scholarly activity, and didactic training.

Dr. Vergil Brown III, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Program Director, is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with White-Wilson Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Dr. Brown specializes in disease prevention, disease management, wellness care, adult primary care, chronic care, and annual wellness exams.

Dr. Brown received his medical doctorate and Ph.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch. After graduating, he relocated from Texas to North Carolina, where he completed his residency.

Dr. Brown is passionate about medicine and helping people and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Dr. Anthony Decotis, MD, Core Faculty, is a rheumatology specialist in Fort Walton Beach, FL, with 45 years of experience. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. In the internal medicine residency program, Dr. Decotis is core faculty, site director, and Rheumatology SEC. He will supervise and teach residents, complete evaluations, participate in didactics, and conduct scholarly activities. He will be a member of the PEC and CCC.

Dr. Anthony S. Al-Dehneh, DO, FACC, FSCAI, Core Faculty, graduated from the UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. He is certified in Interventional/Non-Invasive Cardiology and Structural Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Al-Dehneh is a core internal medicine residency program faculty member and the cardiovascular disease SEC. He will supervise and teach residents, complete evaluations, participate in didactics, and conduct scholarly activities. He will be a member of the PEC and CCC.

Dr. Ellenmarie Brown, MD, Core Faculty, is a core internal medicine residency program faculty member and teaching hospitalist on inpatient wards. She will supervise and teach residents, complete evaluations, participate in didactics, and conduct scholarly activities. She will be a member of the PEC and CCC.

As core faculty, Dr. Brown is excited to assist in enriching and teaching residents as they grow through our program at HCA Destin.
