Thank you for your interest in HCA Florida Healthcare GME Psychiatry Program at JFKN Hospital in West Palm Beach. Our psychiatry residency program has become one of HCA's finest contributions to the delivery of mental health care. We have moved from humble beginnings to a mature and versatile training program that well prepares its residents for the challenges and changes of 21st century psychiatry. In our brief existence, we have graduated well over 50 residents whose board certification rate is well over 90%.
Our hospital has over 100 psychiatric beds, and we provide a full range of care. We have child/adolescent, geriatric, and adult units. Residents will get exceptional exposure to emergency services, consultation -liaison psychiatry, ECT, addiction medicine and forensic issues. We have a strong emphasis on community care. In the first 2 years of the residency, the majority of patients come from low income and low resourced environments.
We have a dynamic and dedicated faculty. All our faculty members are board certified and have also achieved certification in the fields of addiction, child/adolescent, geriatric, and forensic psychiatry. The faculty has an open-door policy and is very receptive to resident concerns. We take resident wellness, growth and development seriously, as well as our fantasy football league. We will cheer you on. "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm"
We are expanding our neuromodulation therapy training and developing a more practical approach to psychotherapies. The big buzz word is "artificial Intelligence." We will be looking to appropriately apply it to our training and treatment of patients. Through it all, we will vigorously maintain our camaraderie and humanistic approach. To quote Walt Whitman, "The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse."
Yours,
Ethan B. Kass, DO
