The West Florida Hospital GME program is a unique blend of academic excellence in a community setting. We are part of the HCA Healthcare/University of Central Florida GME consortium located in beautiful Northwest Florida.

My goal is to foster excellence in obstetrics and gynecology. As your director, I have almost 20 years of experience in teaching excellence and graduate medical education. As a new program, I am seeking adventurous candidates who wish to play an active role in shaping their education.

Residents will have the uncommon opportunity to learn with one on one faculty instruction. Our hospital boasts a robust and diverse clinical learning environment to provide a rich mix of clinical experiences. You will be mentored by faculty who share our vision and interest in your education, and you will graduate with the skills to care for women’s needs across their lifespan.

Understanding and participating in clinical research is critical during your residency training as this builds a foundation for clinical innovation and the adoption of new evidence-based techniques into practice. The University of Central Florida has a robust support network to help facilitate and support clinical research and lifelong learning.

We have chosen to be a small program to provide individual instruction and to ensure the depth of experience to allow for expertise in both obstetrics and gynecology. We have committed faculty members in all of the subspecialty areas and expansion plans include the creation of fellowships.

The Pensacola Bay Area is a unique cultural blend of sun-drenched, sugar-white beaches alongside a historic town rich with culture and Southern hospitality. Resting on the banks of Pensacola Bay, the quaint downtown takes one back in time.

Pensacola offers 450 years of history, innovative coastal cuisine, art and culture, unique shopping and many festivals throughout the year celebrating everything from music and food to art and Mardi Gras. A low cost of living as well as strong public schools make this an attractive place for a physician in training.

I am excited to be part of the most important years of your educational career and welcome your interest and consideration of our program!

Sincerely,
Julie Zemaitis DeCesare, MD
