Susan Belcher, MD

Program Director, Pain and MSK, Clearway Pain Solutions

Dr. Susan Belcher, Program Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program (Pensacola, Florida). She holds professorships as Assistant Professor University of Central Florida and Assistant Professor Florida State University. Dr. Belcher joined Clearway Pain in 2015 and currently specials in musculoskeletal injuries, interventional pain management, lumbar and cervical pain, regenerative medicine, and geriatric pain. Dr. Belcher has extensive training in interventional pain/physical medicine, which includes three years of training and completion of her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Following her residency, Dr. Belcher completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Science Center and subsequently an Advanced Spine Interventional Fellowship in Tyler, Texas at the Texas Spine and Joint Hospital. Prior to completing her residency at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Belcher received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed an internship in Transitional Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Prior to medical school, Dr. Belcher was a Division I basketball and tennis player at the University of New Orleans where she earned her undergraduate (BS-biology) and graduate degrees (Med-Sports Management). In her spare time, Dr. Belcher is an enthusiastic competitor, having finished the Ironman Triathlon and Boston Marathon. She enjoys spending time with her family and German Short Haired Pointer.


Christopher Burton, MD

Associate Program Director, Medical Director, West Florida Inpatient Rehab

Dr. Christopher Burton completed his medical school training and a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He has gone on to author multiple books, including Burnout Breakthrough, Putting Out the Fire: How to Prevent Physician Burnout, Personal Finance for Physicians, and more. In addition, he is an international speaker, presenting on topics such as leadership, communication, physician burnout, and rehabilitation in sports and musculoskeletal medicine. He has served in a wide variety of leadership roles, including President for the Escambia County Medical Society, Chair of the Florida Medical Association's Young Physician Section, Regional Medical Director for Radial Health Southeast and as an Executive Director of the John Maxwell Team, the world's number one leadership and personal development organization. Dr. Burton has been on faculty at Florida State University and Azusa Pacific University prior to accepting his role as Associate Program Director for the West Florida Hospital/University of Central Florida College of Medicine PM&R residency program. He has enjoyed teaching numerous physicians, residents, medical students, nurses, case managers, physical therapists and occupational therapists across the country during his career.


Stephen Slobodian, MD

West Florida Inpatient Rehab

Dr. Slobodian attended Hahnemann Medical University in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA and then joined the United States Navy, entering the Naval Flight Surgeon Program. In addition to his Flight and Aviation Medicine training he underwent studies in crash injuries and crash injury forces. He was stationed at Moffett Field in California with Patrol Squadron 19. He was rated as a top 1% Naval Officer and nominated for the Operational Flight Surgeon of the Year Citation. Upon completion of his Naval Service he was accepted to Stanford for residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Spinal Cord Injury subspecialty training.


Jeff Buchalter, MD

Pain and Interventional Spine, Professional Medical Consultants

Dr. Buchalter, MD, completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the Baylor College of Medicine and subspecialty Pain Fellowship at the University of Texas and MD Andersons Cancer Center in Houston Tx. He is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Buchalter previously was an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology with the University of Florida College of Medicines Pain Fellowship program. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery, Florida State College of Medicine and an Associate Professor, Department of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation, University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. He is the Chairman of the Educational Curriculum and continues to develop the most advanced educational programs for our residents. 

Dr. Buchalter served as the Chairman of Clearway Pain Solutions and practiced in the field of Pain Medicine since 1991 and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Spine Related Pain Disorders until his retirement from private practice.  He has co-authored the textbook "Diagnosis, Management and Treatment of Discogenic Pain." He has been selected as "The Most Compassionate Physician", "Top Physician", and has been recognized by Who's Who and the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals.

Dr. Buchalter is happily married to his wife Deborah and has two wonderful children, Dr. Brandon Buchalter and Hannah Buchalter. His hobbies include working out, boating, spending time with his family and teaching


David Bear, DO

Electrodiagnostic Procedures, Emerald Coast Neurology

Dr. Bear received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida in 2000. He completed his internship at Martin Army Community Hospital, Ft. Benning, Georgia in 2001. He served as brigade surgeon at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and then completed his neurology residency at Ohio University’s Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio in 2006. He is board certified in Sleep Medicine, Headache, and Neurophysiology. Dr. Bear practices general neurology and has a special interest in dementia, sleep medicine, therapeutic Botox, and headaches. He is a Neurology Faculty Associate Professor for FSU. He often lectures on up to date headache therapies. Dr. Bear is a Principal Investigator in several active clinical trials. Dr. Bear enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge of headaches with others through educational talks and mentoring. He particularly enjoys living on the beautiful Gulf Coast. He spends a lot of time outdoors boating, camping, off-roading, and cruising on his motorcycle. Dr. Bear and his family can be seen out and about in Pensacola at the local restaurants and events.


Daniel Ross, DO

Dr. Ross earned his medical degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan in 2002. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in French Horn from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Ross completed his neurology residency in 2006 at the Garden City Osteopathic Hospital, part of the Michigan State University Statewide Campus System in Garden City, Michigan. Dr. Ross is board certified in Neurology, Sleep Medicine, Neurophysiology, and Anti-Aging Medicine. He holds a current State Physician License in Florida and has been practicing since 2006. He is also the Medical Director for the Pensacola Sleep Disorder Center. Dr. Ross enjoys all areas of neurology and sleep medicine, he is particularly interested in preventative treatment through nutrition and lifestyle modifications. Dr. Ross also enjoys teaching and regularly trains medical students who rotate through the clinic. He is an adjunct clinical professor at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ross regularly volunteers his speaking skills as the narrator for Time to Shine Center for Performing Arts at their frequent performances. He periodically accompanies the performers on his French horn. Dr. Ross served on the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors from 2009—2013. He enjoys spending time with his family, working out, reading, and roasting his own coffee. He is an avid University of Michigan football fan (GO BLUE!) but is open-minded enough to treat his patients who are Ohio State fans. Dr. Ross and his wife, a dance teacher, have two teenage daughters.

Josh Hackel, MD

Josh Hackel, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine physician who specializes in treating musculoskeletal and orthopaedic injuries. His primary aim is to maximize healing and minimize recovery time, allowing for a rapid return to sport, work, and daily activities. His clinical interests include treatment of the musculoskeletal system, including ultrasound-guided, minimally-invasive procedures such as bone marrow- and adipose-derived stem cell injections; platelet-rich plasma therapies (also known as PRP); Tenex (percutaneous tenotomy) of the elbow, ankle, plantar fascia, knee, hip and shoulder; and radiofrequency ablation for chronic pain and/or arthritis of the hip and knee. Dr. Hackel trained under world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews during his fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama. Following his fellowship, Dr. Hackel was one of two physicians selected by Dr. Andrews to move to Gulf Breeze, Florida and launch the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. The Andrews Institute has experienced remarkable growth since that time and is today one of the leading multi-specialty clinics in the country.

Dr. Hackel was the first physician at the Andrews Institute to utilize stem cell therapy successfully in the treatment of soft tissue injuries and joint disorders and is an internationally-recognized expert in stem cell therapies and ultrasound-guided procedures. He is a pioneer in the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of musculoskeletal ultrasound in an orthopaedic practice, and developed one of the first musculoskeletal ultrasound continuing education courses in the country. He has been teaching fellow clinicians how to effectively use musculoskeletal ultrasound in their practices since 2009; to this day, his educational course is considered one of the best in the country by his peers.


Clark Metzger, MD

Clark S. Metzger, MD, is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon caring for patients in Pensacola, FL.

Dr. Clark S. Metzger received his undergraduate education at Louisiana State University from 1977 to 1980, and was admitted to the University of Tennessee center for the Health Sciences without an undergraduate degree to pursue his MD and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1985. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of South Alabama in 1990. He then completed a one year fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

He began his spine practice in Pensacola in 1991 and has practiced there and in Covington County Alabama for the last 25 years. He has embraced minimally invasive spine surgery from day one. He also performs the full range of spine surgeries including a special interest in neuromodulation. In the past two years he has had two peer review journal articles published addressing recent advances in spinal cord stimulation.

Marisa Terry, MD

Dr. Terry completed her medical school education at Michigan State University - College of Human Medicine. Thereafter, she completed the PMR residency program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and completed a Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Terry practiced at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL, doing interventional pain medicine. Dr. Terry has recently joined the teaching faculty at the HCA West Hospital/University of Central Florida College of Medicine PM&R residency program. She has expertise in all aspects of Ultrasound-guided interventions and fluoroscopically-guided spine interventions. She leads the didactic series on both Ultrasound-guided interventions and physical examination, among other topics. Dr. Terry enjoys spending time with her two sons, participating in all outdoor sports activities, cooking, and traveling.


Lesley Walsh, MD

Pain and Interventional Spine, Clearway Pain Solutions

Dr. Lesley Walsh is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed her residency training in anesthesiology at Tulane University. Dr. Walsh went on to complete a dual fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in pain medicine and advanced regional anesthesia, and acute pain management. During her fellowship, Dr. Walsh served as an instructor in Anesthesiology, Regional Anesthesia, and Acute Pain Management at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya.  After fellowship, Dr. Walsh became a senior faculty physician at Ochsner Health System, where she served as the residency rotation director from 2013-2018, and gratis faculty at Louisiana State University Health Science Center from 2014-2020.  In 2020, Dr. Walsh joined Clearway Pain Solutions where she is currently the Director of Advanced Procedures.  Dr. Walsh is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the Escambia County Medical Society.

Dr. Walsh has dedicated her practice to providing the most up to date and patient-centered care focused on reducing pain while restoring function and quality of life to her patients. Dr. Walsh’s area of expertise is in pain management with special interests in complex pain conditions, including fibromyalgia, CRPS, pelvic pain, and neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome; the multidisciplinary treatment approach; and interventional treatment options, including innovative treatments in interventional pain and minimally invasive treatments, such as minimally invasive lumbar decompression, basivertebral nerve ablation, spinal and peripheral stimulation, percutaneous disc allografts, endoscopic rhizotomy, and SI fusion.

When Dr. Walsh is not treating patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, tending to her garden and chickens, classic rock, reading, boating, and watching LSU and Saints football.
