Portsmouth Regional Hospital is a 220-bed hospital that offers a high level of acuity. Our hospital serves as a referral center for cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, trauma, and advanced critical care services. The variety of pathology encountered in our hospital guarantees our residents broad and varied inpatient clinical exposures. The outpatient practice is based out of a mature internal medicine practice, which allows residents to experience a wide variety of outpatient clinical situations across a spectrum of cultures, communities, and socio-economic status. The ambulatory experience will also expose residents to medicine and surgical specialists to provide a well-rounded outpatient clinical exposure.

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is an affiliate member of the Tufts University School of Medicine, which has a focus on primary care medicine. Our residents come from osteopathic and allopathic medical schools, all around the United States, and the world. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment that facilitates camaraderie and promotes personal and professional growth. We strive to provide our residents with the clinical experience and supportive mentoring that will lead to a successful career as an internal medicine specialist. Our program is designed to prepare to be leaders, educators, and exceptional clinicians who are committed to excellent patient care and lifelong learning.
