The mission of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship program at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is to provide interprofessional training, mentorship, and promote scholarly activities to enable graduates to practice competently and independently in acute, post-acute and ambulatory settings.
Our program's aim is to supervise and encourage independent practice in affiliated fields such as long-term care, inpatient care and ambulatory geriatrics, geriatric psychiatry, and rehabilitation. We are committed to training fellows to care for a diverse and sociomedically vulnerable population in Southeast Florida. Graduates will become knowledgeable in regulatory and practice issues and will be given teaching opportunities for a health professions audience, as well as the opportunity to give didactic presentations at the local, state, and national levels.
