Program overview

The Division of Cardiology at Aventura Hospital is pleased to offer fellowship training in cardiovascular disease.

Trainees will receive comprehensive training in clinical cardiology which will prepare them for careers in clinical practice, academic medicine and/or advanced fellowship training in cardiology specialties such as interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and advanced imaging.

The program offers comprehensive clinical training in cardiovascular medicine.

Additional subspecialty electives may be available in:

  • Heart failure
  • Heart transplantation
  • Adult congenital heart disease

The goal of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is to prepare trainees for a long career in cardiovascular medicine. Fellows will be prepared for clinical practice, academic pursuits, and/or advanced fellowship training. Critical to this goal is a solid foundation in clinical cardiovascular disease in all areas through the rotations provided during the three-year fellowship program.

The HCA Florida Aventura Hospital Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program's mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders.

This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values and ideals.

Each fellow will receive financial support and benefits to begin on the effective date of the contract agreement. These benefits include

Aventura Hospital does not sponsor visas for our clinical trainees.

We will offer three interview dates which are approximately late August through September. Interviews are by invitation only.

Completed ERAS application, curriculum vitae, personal statement, official medical school transcript, three letters of recommendation, a photograph (passport style), verification of training from medical school and residency programs, USMLE Transcripts-STEPS 1, 2 and 3.

1 resident out of state, 2 from within HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, and 3 from within Florida

3 fellows went into private practice and 3 went on to Interventional Cardiology Fellowships
