Welcome to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital and thank you for your interest in our Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program!

Fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) as of July 1, 2017, our three-year program is designed to provide an immersive and in-depth clinical experience that fully prepares our fellows for a career in the field of pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. Over the course of 3 years, our fellows (four fellows per year) gain advancement in their scientific knowledge, clinical skills, scholarly productivity, and ethical standards that prepares them for a successful career as a bedside clinician and proceduralist, clinical educator, or scientist. The clinical exposure that fellows undergo is remarkable. The extensive breadth of pathology within the community we serve provides our fellows with the opportunity to lead clinical care of complex patients in a multidisciplinary fashion.

The academic curriculum of our fellows expands through a wide range of core clinical rotations that strengthen their fund of knowledge and promote the acquisition of superb clinical skills. Fellows further expand their interest in specific areas through curriculum electives such as: surgical trauma intensive care, anesthesia, sleep medicine, interventional bronchoscopy, radiology, ultrasonography, palliative care medicine and ear, nose, and throat specialties.

Our enthusiastic and engaged faculty and staff are committed to our fellows, their learning experience, and their wellbeing. They are promoters of the fellow’s professional advancement to achieve their career goals. The cultivation of our young professionals in pulmonary and critical care medicine finds their ground in three training pillars: 1) outstanding clinical skills, 2) aspirational community role modeling, and 3) passionate medical education.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to share our program with you and we look forward to working with you here in South Florida.
