Welcome to the PM&R Residency Program at HCA Florida Blake Hospital!
We're thrilled to have you join us in your journey to becoming a compassionate and skilled physiatrist. HCA Florida Blake Hospital has proudly served Manatee County for over 50 years, with our Rehabilitation Center holding CARF accreditation for 45 years—demonstrating our enduring commitment to excellence in rehabilitation care.

Our residency program, part of the hospital's Graduate Medical Education (GME) department, received ACGME accreditation in April 2023 and welcomed its first class in July 2023. Alongside PM&R, our GME offerings include Internal Medicine, Transitional Year, Cardiovascular Disease, and Infectious Disease programs.

Led by a dedicated team, our program offers diverse clinical rotations across inpatient, consultation, and outpatient services, including Neurology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, and Trauma—ensuring a well-rounded education in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

As Program Director, I bring experience from my roles as President of the Board of Directors at Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostics, Medical Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital, and Chief of PM&R at Tampa General Hospital. I earned my medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe and completed residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. I'm board certified in PM&R with a subspecialty in Brain Injury Medicine and am fluent in English and Spanish.

Our program is part of a broad-based GME consortium supported by HCA Healthcare and USF Morsani College of Medicine, offering access to extensive academic and clinical resources.

We invite you to explore more about our program on our website and look forward to welcoming you to our team. Please reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
Rigoberto Nuñez, MD
