Welcome to the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital /USF Morsani College of Medicine!
Our Gastroenterology fellowship is based at a rural community hospital and is focused on training physicians to provide compassionate care for patients using state of the art technology. This is a 3 year, ACGME accredited fellowship program.
The goal of training will initially to get an exposure to all the disciplines of Gastroenterology including but not limited to General Gastroenterology, IBD, Hepatology, pancreatic disease, motility disorders, and nutrition. Over the course of training, fellows will be able to fine tune the training to achieve their individual goals.
Education will be comprehensive and will be a combination of conferences, group discussions, computer-based education, and self-education with textbooks and journals. Procedures will be taught in a systematic way – starting with a basic introduction. As fellows achieve fixed targets and develop their skills, they will be able to advance to more complicated procedures. The goal is to develop Gastroenterologists who are thorough, apply evidence-based medicine, understand quality metrics, and are very skilled in the necessary procedures.
This is primarily a community-based program, but physicians will be trained to allow them to pursue clinical medicine, academic medicine, or further sub specialization. Two fellows will be taken each year. Physicians who apply for the program should have strong clinical training in Internal Medicine, have an exposure to research, and be focused on a career in Gastroenterology.
We look forward to meeting you.
