Our curriculum is designed to build a solid foundation in the vast array of topics that encompass the practice of internal medicine. The curriculum is presented in various formats ranging from online self-paced courses to regularly scheduled conferences. The majority of conferences will be case-based, interactive, hands-on sessions designed to enhance the resident’s knowledge base.

Evaluations

As a resident, it is important that it is clear what is being evaluated and how that evaluation is being done.

Let's start with what is being evaluated.

The Internal Medicine Milestone Project, which is a joint initiative between the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Internal Medicine, introduced a set of milestones that are used to evaluate how residents are progressing toward being able to practice independently. The milestones describe observable behaviors that become more sophisticated as the resident advances.

We recognize that each resident brings their own strengths and experiences to a residency program and not all residents learn and progress in the same way.

The benefit of using the milestone-based evaluations is that it will facilitate earlier identification of residents who are either not progressing or are excelling in one or more areas, and allows the program to intervene in their training in a more timely fashion in order to enhance the performance of those residents.

All your evaluations come from faculty, staff and patients that have work with you and have had ample opportunity to observe your progress.
