Program Overview
The Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Fellowship program includes rotations at The IVF Center in Winter Park, Oviedo, and Osceola Hospital. During the first year, Fellows engage in outpatient clinical activities at The IVF Center Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Clinic. They rotate through this clinic in 12 one-month blocks, seeing patients daily.
The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) division handles over 1,000 new patients annually, with more than 400 fresh and frozen IVF cycles. Fellows gain extensive experience with a variety of infertility patients, performing monitoring for IVF, ovulation induction, superovulation with gonadotropins, intrauterine inseminations, 2D and 3D transvaginal ultrasounds, HSGs, saline sonograms, and hysterosonograms. They evaluate new patients with a wide range of infertility, fertility preservation, and reproductive endocrine issues, including PCOS, thyroid disease, adrenal disease, endometriosis, congenital and acquired uterine anomalies, abnormal uterine bleeding, menopausal symptoms, amenorrhea, and genetic abnormalities.
An adjacent OR facility allows Fellows to perform IVF oocyte retrieval and transfer procedures, hysteroscopies, and other related procedures. Additionally, fellows have a research month and rotations in genetics and the IVF lab. During the 12 months of protected research time, fellows conduct research under the guidance of Dr. Masternak at laboratories located at UCF, Osceola, or Children's Hospital campus. They receive training in Male Infertility from a visiting urologist, as well as Endocrine Andrology and IVF laboratory experience at The IVF Center. HCA supports GME activities, ensuring faculty are available for direct and indirect supervision. In their third year, Fellows rotate with the Medical Endocrinology group at Osceola Medical Center, Advanced Reproductive Surgery, Pediatric Endocrinology at Nemours Children's Hospital, and Genetics with the MFM group at Nemours. They also have elective time for independent care in IVF and reproductive medicine, surgery, or research.
