Welcome from our Program Director

The Pathology Residency Program at HCA Florida Westside Hospital/Northwest Hospital is part of the HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education network. HCA Healthcare is the nation's leading provider of quality, patient-centered care. We are also the leader in graduate medical education, all brought together by a single mission.

Program overview

The program offers combined programs in anatomic (AP) and clinical pathology (CP) over four years of training, including integrated surgical pathology and cytopathology, and draws upon a system with different hospitals and central CoreLab.

Our faculty are board certified with subspecialties in a range of fields including cytopathology, hematopathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, oncologic surgical pathology, and genito-urinary pathology.

Residents are exposed to case material from HCA FL Westside Hospital and HCA FL Northwest Hospital with additional referral material from all other hospitals within the East FL HCA system.

In addition to resources within the HCA Healthcare, residents will rotate at the Miami/Dade or Broward County Medical examiner's office, Children's Hospital and large regional reference laboratories with exposure to esoteric and cutting-edge molecular diagnostics.
