Hello, Everyone!

Under the partnership of HCA Florida Westside Hospital and HCA Florida Northwest Hospital, the General Surgery Residency is an ACGME fully accredited five-year training program which matriculates 4 categorical residents annually. Our mission is to provide our patients with high-quality care while training the next generation of surgeons that are advocates for their patients, communities, colleagues, and profession in addition to being clinically excellent physician leaders.

Our program goals are to fully train our residents to become compassionate, committed, and competent surgeons who are capable of the independent practice of general surgery with the highest ethical and professional standards. They will serve the needs of their patients and their local communities and promote improvement in healthcare in our nation. Our unique program offers many opportunities for diversity in training in a supportive environment that offers increasing levels of autonomy via rotations at hospital facilities within the HCA Healthcare East Florida Consortium. Residents are encouraged to pursue numerous scholarship activities and research involvement. Our formal didactics program consists of weekly lectures based on the SCORE curriculum, TrueLearn self-assessment quizzes, M&M conferences, surgery grand rounds, journal clubs, tumor boards and simulation skills sessions. Through our comprehensive educational conferences, simulation resources, and commitment to surgical education and research, our residents will be uniquely prepared for additional competitive surgical subspecialty fellowship training and successful careers in modern surgery.

On behalf of our Hospital Leadership at HCA Florida Westside Hospital and HCA Florida Northwest Hospital, faculty, allied healthcare professionals and staff, we value your interest in our surgery residency training program and we anticipate meeting you in the near future. If we can provide additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
