The HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge Transitional Year Residency Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.
Program Overview
Our program provides residents with a valuable introduction to clinical medicine in a variety of disciplines in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
By limiting the number of interns accepted into our program each academic year to eight, we are able to provide an outstanding learning environment while customizing the curriculum to meet the needs of each participant. This design provides a solid foundation for subsequent residencies in other specialties.
The Transitional Year curriculum is tailored to meet all ACGME requirements for PGY2 advancement in areas such as anesthesiology, radiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation while providing broad exposure to a variety of medical and surgical subspecialties.
We have worked hard to develop a diverse didactic curriculum drawing upon evidence-based medicine, case reports, journal clubs, and board review topics.
