Mission Statement
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Las Palmas Del Sol Medical Center aims to train the physicians and leaders of tomorrow. As a part of HCA Healthcare, our primary goal is to provide the best care and improve human life.
Our program offers a highly rewarding educational environment where residents are allowed to learn and grow under the guidance and support of our experienced faculty and staff. We strive to provide each resident with personalized attention and ensure that their clinical experience and educational needs are met.

Program Overview
Thank you for your interest in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training program at HCA Healthcare Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare.
Our four-year program has been accredited by the ACGME since 2019 and offers up to six categorical positions each year. The program aims to educate and train the next generation of obstetrician-gynecologists to become compassionate and competent professionals.
Our program offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient experiences, providing residents with diverse exposure to obstetrics and gynecology patients. Our residents gain an exceptional fund of knowledge, patient care, and clinical skills, enabling them to provide quality healthcare to their future communities.
We provide comprehensive clinical and leadership residency training, with an emphasis on extensive inpatient and progressive continuity clinics. Our residents build a dynamic knowledge base, which helps them practice quality healthcare.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology program is based at Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center, both located in sunny El Paso, Texas. These medical centers have excellent teaching physicians and advanced medical equipment, making them an ideal educational facility for resident medical education.
Our residents can expect to acquire lifelong clinical experiences within a multicultural patient population. The clinical knowledge gained will sharpen their clinical and leadership skills, which are essential to provide quality patient care.

Starting in 2024, our program will only accept electronic applications through ResidencyCAS.
All spots are filled through the NRMP (the Match). If you are an international applicant, ECFMG Certification is required prior to the start of residency.

The OBGYN program is approved for 24 positions:

Las Palmas Medical Center has 327 beds with 1,984 annual deliveries. Del Sol Medical Center has 350 beds with 2,497 annual deliveries. The patient demographics are predominantly Hispanic from all age ranges.

To ensure comprehensive academic development, each resident is required to:
- Complete a Case Report
- Undertake a Research or Quality Improvement Project
- Participate in Research Symposia
- Submit a Manuscript for Publication
By fulfilling these scholarly requirements, residents will gain valuable experience in research, writing, and critical thinking. These skills will not only enhance professional development but also contribute to the advancement of the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
