Welcome to the VCOM-Virginia’s Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM) Residency!

We offer a one-year, “fellowship-like” concentration in Osteopathic Principles and Practice that will allow any ACGME graduating resident from any specialty to focus and develop their osteopathic skills based on the roots of our professional teachings.

Our program will emphasize a broad-based musculoskeletal training experience with a strong emphasis on classic and current osteopathic philosophy and OMT techniques while emphasizing an in-depth study of anatomy and physiology.

Our program has diverse ONMM faculty with an emphasis in sports medicine, pediatrics including infants, geriatrics, and all-around patient care. There will be a strong sports medicine influence with exposure to biomechanics, motor control assessment, functional rehabilitation, musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative medicine.

The practice of osteopathic medicine is the application of the physician's knowledge, skills, and attitudes based on the classic tenets of osteopathic philosophy:

  • The body is a unit; a person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit.
  • The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and health maintenance.
  • Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.
  • Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of the basic principles

We would love to help you take this journey to realize the potential of your osteopathic roots. Feel free to contact me at any time to discuss ONMM3 training opportunities or other ways to expand your understanding of Osteopathic philosophy.

Come join us in the beautiful landscapes of Virginia, visit the birthplace of AT Still and “Dig On!”

Sincerely,

Albert J Kozar DO
