How to Apply

Welcome from our Program Director

Welcome to our family at LewisGale-Salem!

Our goal is to provide outstanding evidence-based inpatient and outpatient medical care to the underserved community of Roanoke, Virginia.

Training with us will provide you with outstanding pediatrics exposure, robust inpatient training and an evidence-based community medicine curriculum with the pathology to match. We believe you will find no better place to train in the state of Virginia when it comes to the combination of these three things. The pathology you will see in our clinic and hospital is second to none and our learning experience is truly a "cradle-to-grave," evidence-based family medicine experience.

The strength of our program lies in its residents. Our diverse family comes together and believes in making a difference in the community. We do this by selecting residents with an intrinsically strong work ethic combined with superior social skills and emotional intelligence.

We combine these qualities with expert coaching from faculty and the pathology only offered in our clinic, and we get better every day, month and year. We don't hide our deficits. Instead, we celebrate them, as addressing those deficits are the only methodology for improvement and learning.

Our passion for underserved medicine and evidence-based medicine is evident, and we manage to blend a community medicine feel with an academic focus unseen in other programs.

We invite you to speak with us and let us show you the difference at Lewis Gale Family Medicine in Roanoke!
