Welcome to the Emergency Medicine Residency Program!

Welcome to LewisGale Medical Center, and congratulations on nearing the completion of your primary medical education. As you consider your options for residency training, we are excited to introduce you to our facility and our staff. Located in the town of Salem, Virginia within the Blue Ridge Mountains, our Emergency Department is a referral center for a large part of Southwest Virginia. Featuring accredited stroke and chest pain programs as well as a growing trauma service, LewisGale provides superior care for the citizens of the Roanoke Valley as well as affording the volume and diversity of patients necessary to prepare you to practice Emergency Medicine in any setting your career leads.

The HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program's mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. The HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Emergency Medicine Program is committed to training emergency medicine residents dedicated to delivering healthcare as it should be: patient-centered and for the good of all people, no matter their circumstance. The program is committed to training physicians to better serve our community. One strength of the program is the tremendous depth and breadth of the clinical care provided. The program provides an academically and clinically rigorous training program in emergency medicine. The robust resources offered through the HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Emergency Medicine Program, in conjunction with dedicated faculty, provides our residents with procedural skills, clinical judgment, professionalism, knowledge and the interpersonal skills necessary for a successful career as leaders in emergency medicine. The curriculum is designed to provide a broad clinical and procedural experience. The program encourages residents to build a robust interest in scientific investigation and evidence based practice through a strong scholarly activities curriculum.

The following salaries are for the 2024-2025 academic year and may differ from future years' stipends.
