Mission Statement
The Medical City Arlington Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.
Program Overview
The new Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at HCA Medical City Arlington is a community-based program designed to provide a patient-centric and evidence-based comprehensive training experience that prepares resident physicians to enter practice with skill and confidence. Our faculty are dedicated to combining the academic foundations of residency training with the “real world” experience of private practice to ensure every graduate is set up for career success.
Whether you want to pursue private practice, academic medicine, or fellowship training, our residency program is here to guide you on that journey.
Our four-year program is under the HCA Medical City Healthcare UNT-TCU Graduate Medical Education Consortium which is affiliated with the University of North Texas Health Science Center Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and UNTHSC-TCU School of Medicine.
Over the course of your training, you will be exposed to all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as other skills necessary to succeed in the ever-changing world of healthcare. We offer active mentorship and guidance that will carry through all aspects of your training, supporting your development as a physician and as a person. We expect our graduates to be highly skilled, confident physicians that will serve as tomorrow’s leaders in women’s healthcare.
We have a very close relationship with our other GME programs, and our experienced faculty model the highest standards of patient care and provide hands-on instruction and clinical experiences in all areas of emergency medicine. They are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you.

Program Details
In addition to rotations on the obstetrics and gynecology services, OBGYN residents will have rotations in emergency medicine, internal medicine, critical care and reproductive endocrinology. They will work with both the GME faculty physicians, OB hospitalists and private practice physicians during their clinical training as well as highly experienced surgeons who provide an unparalleled experience in gynecologic surgery training.
Resident continuity clinics will be at Medical City Women’s Care. Medical City Women’s Care is part of a new medical office building that opened in January 2021. The office is located directly adjacent to the women’s tower. The office clinic has seven exam rooms, two sonogram rooms, three physician offices, and one procedure room. The resident continuity clinics and faculty practice utilize the space which is designed like a private practice office.
The subspecialty rotations in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM), urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology occur at Medical City Dallas. Medical City Dallas is an 899-bed hospital with more than 4,000 deliveries and 4,000 gynecologic surgeries annually. The MFM rotation will include time at the Fetal Care Center, with the opportunity to participate in fetal surgery cases. Residents also have the opportunity to work with genetic counselors. The subspecialty rotations allow for a 1:1 experience with the attending physicians.
Our base training site, Medical City Arlington, is a 432 bed Level II Trauma Center with over 100,000 annual emergency room visits and over 19,000 annual admissions. The Women’s Tower has 23 labor and delivery rooms, three OB emergency rooms, and 34 postpartum rooms. There are more than 4,000 deliveries annually.
Conference Schedule
The obstetrics and gynecology curriculum is anchored by our weekly academic sessions which is protected time.
Grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, fetal strip conferences, traditional didactics, simulation sessions and scholarly activity will all be components of the curriculum. Simulation sessions will be conducted on-site at the 37,000 square foot HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement in Frisco, Texas.
An ongoing research curriculum will provide the necessary knowledge and tools to design and complete a scholarly project before the completion of residency training.
In addition to the core content needed to pass board exams, the curriculum will introduce residents to relevant topics such as patient safety, patient experience, quality improvement, the business of medicine and health disparities.
