Dr. Donald Raj Woolever

Welcome to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital/Tufts University School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency!

Our first class of residents graduates in June 2023! This first cohort has helped to shape our new residency and, along with our faculty, has created a culture of inquiry and a supportive learning environment. In addition, we have partnered with residencies in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry to establish a teaching center that fosters high quality education across our health system network. We have 4 hours of dedicated education time each week that's also augmented by the wide array of educational resources and offerings available through our connections with HCA.

Our goal is to train highly skilled and passionate family physicians in an open and supportive environment. We provide excellent training in the full-spectrum of family medicine and aim to help each resident discover their true passion within our specialty. A core value of family medicine is a commitment to continuous healing relationships with our patients. This is particularly powerful in the outpatient continuity clinic. We utilize a "clinic first" approach and strive to create high-functioning clinic teams to be a community partner and create a welcoming medical home. Ultimately, we are committed to continuous improvement of resident education, evidence-based patient care and service to our greater community.

We have beautiful facilities, including a state-of-the-art simulation center and education building. Our continuity clinics are new, therapeutic environments and our regional hospital is modern and well-equipped to care for a high-acuity inpatient census.

Portsmouth and Northern New England offers something for everyone with an exceptional quality of life. From the ocean to the mountains, deep forests to lakes, this is an outdoor paradise, along with easy access to city amenities.

I look forward to welcoming you to the world of Family Medicine!

Sincerely,

Donald Raj Woolever, MD FAAFP
