The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Summerville Medical Center is part of HCA Healthcare's Graduate Medical Education network. This is a brand new program and our goal is to create skilled, compassionate physicians to care for women at all stages of their lives.
This community-based program is designed to provide a patient-centric and evidence-based comprehensive training experience that prepares resident physicians to enter practice with skill and confidence. Our faculty are dedicated to combining the academic foundations of residency training with the "real world" experience of practice to ensure every graduate is set up for career success.
Whether you want to pursue clinical practice, academic medicine, or fellowship training, our residency program is here to guide you on that journey.
This will be a four-year program with three residents per year.
Over the course of your training, you will be exposed to all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, including robotics, and will rotate through the subspecialty fields such as maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, urogynecology, and gynecology oncology. We offer active mentorship and guidance that will carry through all aspects of your training, supporting your development as a physician and as a person. We expect our graduates to be highly skilled, confident physicians that will serve as tomorrow's leaders in women's healthcare.
We also have didactic teaching to cover the full breadth of obstetrics and gynecology, in addition to subspecialty lectures. Included in our weekly didactic teachings will be Journal Club, Morbidity and Mortality conferences, and simulation labs. We have a very close relationship with other GME programs, and our experienced faculty provide hands-on instruction and clinical experiences in all areas of women's health.
