Mission statement
The TriStar Centennial Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program's mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders.

This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding their perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values and ideals.
Program overview
Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME-accredited program with 30 categorical positions and accepts 10 residents each year. Our academic program provides an educational experience that is both challenging and exciting. During your residency, you will have a robust clinical exposure to inpatient care, outpatient medicine and the chance to gain expertise in office, hospital and emergency settings.
You will be in a program where residents are treated with respect and have a great degree of autonomy in overseeing patient care as you grow in your competence. Our program leadership is also responsive to your needs and listens to your ideas for improvement. Additionally, other healthcare providers round with our physician teams providing real-time feedback to patients and physicians alike on issues such as drug-drug interactions, costs of medications and discharge planning.
Our training program encourages you, facilitates your growth and pairs you with faculty advisors based on your career interests. Our faculty are eager to help, provide advice and give guidance throughout your training.
Our internal medicine residency program is committed to providing our residents with an exceptional residency experience. We have a new GME suite with state-of-the-art classrooms, a resident lounge, multiple call rooms, conference rooms and administrative office space.

Conference schedule
The TriStar Centennial Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program will provide residents with a robust didactic curriculum. This includes lectures, small groups, workshops, simulations and structured opportunities for evaluation of clinical acumen and procedural skills through mock codes, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and simulation.
Our residents are encouraged and supported to engage in scholarly work, attend regional and national conferences and publish scientific manuscripts.
Daily
- Morning huddle: 7:30am to 8:30am
- Attending rounds: typically 8:30am to noon
- Patients are presented to the attending physician.
- Bedside teaching is regularly included in the rounds.
- Occasionally, specialty cases are presented for discussion depending upon the interests of the attending physician.
- Learning activities include physical exams, a discussion of particular medical diseases, psychosocial and ethical themes and management issues.
Weekly
- Noon conferences include monthly themes of the various specialty medicine topics.
- All residents on inpatient floor teams and electives are expected to attend.
- Yale office-based medicine curriculum
- This curriculum covers a wide span of primary care topics and provides both an evidence-based approach for what house staff might encounter as well as updates on new developments in therapy or standards of care.
- Over three years of training, residents will be exposed to a compendium of 144 different topics. All residents on ambulatory block rotations are expected to attend.

Yes. We received our initial accreditation on May 19, 2020.
Graduates must have completed medical school no more than two (2) years before the start of the program.

Interviews will be hosted online. We will offer optional half-day meet and greet with available residents, faculty and a facility tour on specific days toward the end of the interview season.
These events will have no influence/effect on our selection process.
January 15th.
Research is a major portion of our internal medicine training program. Our residents are active participants of regional conferences and national events that foster research. Our faculty members work very closely with residents to encourage publications and research according to the residents' area of interest. Our residents receive an annual stipend to participate in scholarly activities and are required to complete one research project prior to graduation. A minimum of one quality improvement project is expected from each resident prior to graduation. The program also organizes a research week during the month of September to promote and acknowledge research results within our Internal Medicine Residency Training Program.
