Welcome from our Program Director

It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to the website of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Program at HCA TriStar Health. The foundation of our program is built upon a unique collaboration between HCA and faculty who are committed to prioritizing mastery of skills and knowledge, scholarship, and autonomy in a supportive learning environment. Although our residency is relatively young compared to many, the program's growth has been exponential. We've prioritized the recruitment of established faculty from across the Nashville region, as well as recent graduates from top-tier programs, to develop a well-rounded curriculum and learning experience for our residents. We've also benefited from significant contributions from the HCA TriStar Division, as our residents are offered a tremendous amount of support for research opportunities while enjoying the comforts of a state-of-the-art workspace. Our program has truly grown to become a centerpiece of Physiatry within the community, and the level of support and interest in our program has been astounding. To build on our initial success, we're continuing to recruit highly motivated faculty with strong academic and clinical backgrounds to empower those in our program to become exceptional colleagues and the future leaders of Physiatry. We've placed a strong emphasis on creating a culture that promotes open communication and teamwork within our program to further build on our strengths while continuing to identify and take advantage of opportunities for growth. That said, I'm confident that our program will continue to blossom into an exceptional training program for those who join us and look forward to advancing our field both in and beyond our home in Nashville, Tennessee.

About our program

Our residency is a three-year ACGME-accredited program starting in post-graduate year 2. We aim to provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment for physicians to develop the diverse medical and procedural skills necessary to deliver compassionate, patient-centered rehabilitative care. In order to serve the rapidly-growing population of Middle Tennessee, the program incorporates training sites from the region's leaders in physiatry, orthopedics, neurology and sports medicine with the goal of training excellent physicians capable of flourishing in any clinical environment.

By fostering an environment of scientific inquiry, we contribute to a community that advances the field of physical medicine & rehabilitation and our understanding of best practices. Individualized attention to personal and professional development prepares our residents to lead with confidence and integrity, while integrating into the local communities of Nashville, heart of culture and medicine in Central Tennessee.
