Dr. Julia Fast

Hometown: Pleasant Valley NY

College: CANISIUS College

Med School: Rocky Vista University

Residency: Womack Army Medical Center Fort Bragg, NC

Fellowship: Fort Hood, TX

Medical interests: full spectrum family medicine, women's health, obstetrics, care for the LGBTQIA community

Julia Fast grew up in New York state and went to medical school in Colorado. After graduating medical school, she was active duty in the Army for 6.5 years, working as a family medicine physician. During her time in the military, she completed a fellowship in Obstetrics, learning to care for patients with high risk pregnancies and perform cesarean deliveries. After separating from the Army, she moved back to Colorado, where her husband was born and raised.  She is passionate about providing the best care for her patients, not only by utilizing evidenced-based medicine but by listening to their priorities and interests and incorporating that into their care.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and toddler. She likes to take advantage of what Colorado has to offer - hiking, biking, mountain climbing and camping! She loves horror movies and board games.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

This program helped make me into the doctor I am today. The residents and staff truly enjoy working with one another and it creates a wonderful learning environment. I am excited, as a former resident of this program and now faculty, to see this program continue to grow and evolve as it shapes future family physicians.

Marc Pascuzzo Psy.D.

He then migrated south and earned his M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Pascuzzo has experience providing psychological services within a multi-disciplinary treatment team in medical as well as community mental health settings. He moved to Colorado in 2012 and joined the HealthONE Family Medicine Residency in 2018. He enjoys skiing, blues music, and B-Movies.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

I love the stories, the jokes, the happy times, the intense times, getting to make a positive difference in my community each day, and helping to shape the physicians who will give me (amazing!) medical care in the future.

Jill Pitcher, DO, FACOFP

Hometown: Loveland, CO

College: Colorado State University

Medical School: College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, now called Western University of Health Science Osteopathic College.

Residency: Osteopathic Family Medicine, Presbyterian St. Lukes, Denver, CO 1991.

Medical Interests: I take a back seat to OB, but love everything else. The hardest and most fun patients to work with are those who don’t fit a mold but make me find the unique answers that are best just for them.

Bio: I have been fortunate to grow up and live outside city limits except when in school and training. That has let me enjoy having horses, do a fair bit of all season outdoor activities and live without close neighbors. I have a female partner (Lesley) who is a Master Gardner, can fix anything and tells me we will soon have chickens. Guess we are staying for a while.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

It took a long time to re-new an osteopathic family medicine residency in Denver. The unique skills our profession brings to patient care are strong, the best of which is compassion and really caring about every individual we see. Hands on, and hands down, some of the best medicine anyone could receive. That is what is encouraged here, I am happy to be a part of that.

Christa Sanford, CNM

Hometown: Cincy OH but I consider CO my home. I’ve been here most of my life.

College: University of Colorado Anschutz; master of science with midwifery focus

Medical School: Umm...

Residency: starting to feel underqualified here...

Medical Interests: women’s health (overall wellbeing, reproductive health, informed decision making, empowerment); female genital mutilation; and urinary fistulas (s/p prolonged second stage)

Bio: I love Jesus and I love people. Being a mom is the best experience ever! I like spending quality time with family and friends. I thrive off of people. I value humor and being a person of your word. My love language is quality time. My husband is my best friend (we can get each other in trouble as much as we can get each other out of trouble). I enjoy leisurely outdoor activities (walk, BBQ, listening to live music, dinner on the patio). I always look forward to a new culinary experience-especially mom and pop spots. Traveling is my therapy especially in warm climates. I look forward to Spring and Summer every year. I lived in Mexico for a few years-it was the biggest mistake I would never undo (probably shouldn’t put that part on the website). Bahahaha. I was the model for a purified water bottle company in Mexico (which kinda makes me a Mexican model even though I’m not Mexican. Haha). I played every sport through high school but wasn’t great at any of them-except track. I really enjoy running but my right knee hates me. I love the water and I’m a rock star on a jet ski. I like fishing especially in the mountains. I used to play the cello- should consider picking it back up. I’d like to learn to play the bongos. I love plays/theater, especially musicals. I hate operas. I sell mid century modern furniture on the side and I’m pretty decent at staging/interior decorating. My favorite book is Half the Sky'. I have a huge heart for missions.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

I thoroughly enjoy working with the Residents. I like the team approach to managing our patients across the lifespan from neonate to geriatric. The learning is reciprocal. They keep me up to speed on the latest evidence based information and I offer experience and insight. It’s fun to see their growth (personally and professionally) and being part of their transition from novice to competent.

Juliana Starzyk (Program Coordinator)

Hometown: Campinas, Brazil

College: Les Roche Global Hospitality, Switzerland

Bio: What I love the most is time with my family, being outside, going for walks, spending time by the pool in the summer and the beach. I am also a professional baker, so baking is another passion of mine.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

I have been with the residency since the very beginning, and have been able to be part of the creation of this wonderful program. It makes me so happy to contribute to the development of incredible doctors, who are so important for the future of our community. I absolutely love our residents and faculty and enjoy being part of this big family!!

R. Levi Sundermeyer, MD (Program Director)

Hometown: St. Louis (Go Cardinals!)

College: Mid-America Nazarene University

Medical School: University of Kansas (Rock Chalk)

Residency: Scott AFB/St. Louis University-Belleville FMR

Fellowship: Obstetric Fellowship - Family Medicine Spokane

Medical Interests: Obstetrics, operative obstetrics, obstetric ultrasound, women’s health, global medicine, resident education

Bio: My wife Marlise and I moved here from Fort Worth, Texas. We have 4 children (2 in college, 1 in high school and 1 in middle school). I enjoy spending time as a family whether its camping, paddle boarding, playing board games like Settlers of Catan. I love baseball (especially the St. Louis Cardinals). Getting outside for a run is therapeutic! I did my residency in the Air Force and ended my active duty career teaching at Eglin AFB FMR. I’m still in the Reserves as an F-16 flight surgeon for the 457 fighter squadron. Prior to joining HealthONE FMR, I was the obstetric fellowship director at John Peter Smith FMR in Fort Worth, Texas for 5 years. I’ve had the fortune to take residents with me to Uganda, Africa 4 times in the past as well as other locations. I really found it personally and professionally satisfying to partner with Makerere University to both teach in the departments of obstetrics and family medicine as well as watch as residents’ eyes were opened to a bigger world and their cultural competency expanded. I love to read recreationally, mostly non-fiction.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

I started as the program director in February 2020. I was drawn to the unique training environment that involves a 3-way partnership between 1) the HCA-HealthONE network of hospitals, 2) Rocky Vista University and their strong emphasis on primary care (especially family medicine), and 3) Cornerstone Family Practice where our residents see a diverse variety of THEIR patients in a private practice setting. There is a deep camaraderie among the residents and with the faculty. There is a real opportunity to develop lasting relationships.

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

I have been working at Cornerstone Family Practice for many years with Dr. Gieseke (we met in med school), I transitioned to full-time teaching at RVU in 2016 and then in 2017 was able to start precepting one day per week back at CFP. Kathy Vidlock, MD

Hometown: Parker CO (or do you mean originally- Burnsville Minnesota)

College: University of Minnesota Institute of Technology Chemistry Major

Medical School: University of Minnesota

Residency: North Memorial Medical Center

Fellowship: Primary Care Sports Medicine University of Iowa

Medical Interests: Sports Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, Fitness

Bio: I am married and have 3 kids who are my pride and joy. I was a competitive swimmer through college and still swim with a masters team. I love trail running with my husband and my dog and being in nature and have been known to get outside to run even during a bomb cyclone. My family says I am just like my dog because “If you don't get her exercise in the morning, she causes trouble all day long.”

Why HealthONE Sky Ridge FMR? What do you love?

This program prioritizes each resident having their own unique experience like no other program. With the various tracks and academic projects, residents can tailor their educational experience to suit their future needs and their interests. I love the academic strength of the faculty. The residents year after year, come together as a family and form closer relationships than I have ever seen even working with 3 other programs. I love it that I receive texts from residents to show me their new shoes, while they are on global health, to show me funny things their dog is doing - it is a true family. My personal highlights are the sports medicine team physician experience and our wilderness medicine elective in Chamonix, France.
