Mission Statement

The Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.

Program Overview

The Internal Medicine Program at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center will provide broad exposure to both inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine and its subspecialties.

There is a broad range of pathology that will prepare the resident well for ambulatory medicine, hospital-based medicine or fellowship training.

We expect our residents to excel in scholarly activities as well as in the care of both inpatients and outpatients.

Rotations will be on a 4+1 block schedule, with protected time set aside each week for didactic lectures, journal club, grand rounds and board preparation.

Residents are expected to participate in quality improvement projects. Two will serve on the Quality Improvement Committee and everyone else will serve on other committees.

In PGY1, residents will rotate on the general medicine floors, the coronary care unit, intermediate care, the intensive care units and the emergency room. Learning procedural skills will be part of the training, both in simulation and in vivo.

Subspecialty rotations will begin in PGY2, with residents playing a greater role in consultations.

A greater emphasis will be on ambulatory care in PGY3, including outpatient rotations.
