Welcome from our Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. Our Interventional Cardiology fellowship is directed by Dr. Umesh Gowda. His primary goal for the program is to provide comprehensive subspecialty training in invasive and interventional cardiology to trainees who have completed both a residency in Internal Medicine and a three-year Cardiovascular Disease fellowship.

Program overview

The Interventional Cardiology fellowship is a one-year program for the trainee to become skilled in Invasive and Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine according to the standards set forth by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The program is intended to provide educational and experiential input from a broad range of specialty providers primarily at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital and Bay Care Clinics. The goals of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship include:

  • Identification of cardiology disease states that are amenable to catheter-based intervention and development of the medical knowledge
  • Technical skill to perform appropriate catheter-based interventions and to provide appropriate pre- and post-procedure care.
