About our program

At HCA Healthcare we are committed to the "care and improvement of human life". In support of this mission, the HCA Florida Healthcare/Kendall Hospital Neurology

Residency Program's mission is to attract, train, and retain compassionate and ethical neurologists who are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed intheir future careers as leaders in the field of neurology. Our 4-year categorical program (including the internship year) is designed to provide residents with cutting edge training from faculty members who are both subject matter experts and have a variety of expertise on the prevention and treatment of neurological illnesses. Faculty will facilitate a robust curriculum that focuses on neurological disease, including its subspecialties, while focusing on the importance of interprofessional teamwork. Through collaboration and interactions with members of the interprofessional team, including physicians from other disciplines, residents will learn how to deliver tailored treatment plans and improve patient experiences in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In all settings, the program will promote and maintain a positive and professional clinical and educational environment that supports scholarly activity, teaching, and life-long learning to residents and faculty alike. By the end of the training program, residents will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to enter autonomous practice in neurology. Residents will not only become experts in the practice of clinical neurology but will also be compassionate, dedicated physicians who serve as advocates for their patients.

FAQs

Since our program is brand new, your involvement will not only provide you with a top-notch training experience but will allow you the opportunity to shape the future of the program. Our academics and administrative staff are very approachable, receptive to feedback and adaptable to make the necessary adjustments to promote the best learning environment and a great training experience.

We do accept IMGs. The deadline for the application is December 1st and CS results must be received by February 1st to be ranked.

Some form of scholarly activity; research, QI or a case report is required for graduation. We have a dedicated faculty member who serves as our Division Research Director and a Research Coordinator. Their roles are to help develop research projects that align with each resident's particular areas of interest. In addition, residents are required to participate in a QI project during their training. Core clinical faculty members are always on the lookout for patients who would be good candidates for a case report or abstract submission.

All communication will be sent via email through Thalamus. Every application is individually reviewed, so it is unnecessary to contact the Neurology Program Administrator for application updates. Due to the high volume of inquiries, voicemails and emails will be returned as time permits.
