Welcome to the HCA Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine GME/HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital Emergency Residency Program. Thank you for your interest!
As our name suggests, we have been sponsored by two powerhouse names, HCA Healthcare and USF Morsani College, both giving extensive resources in scholarly activity and clinical excellence to our program. Added to a high acuity community hospital with over 60,000 visits per year, we have the perfect recipe for success.
Our goal is:
“To train the next generation of emergency physicians by providing the learning experience required to develop skills, knowledge and attitude to provide compassionate and quality of emergency care.”
In addition to the rich clinical experience at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital, we have two additional training sites: HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, and the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, a leading pediatric specialty hospital and critical care. All of our training sites boast superb clinical and educational opportunities in high acuity settings with adequate supervision of our academic faculty at each one of our clinical sites.
As the founding program director of the HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program, I can certainly attest to the unique opportunity our program will be for a select group of residents. Our current residents have been an integral component, helping grow and develop our program to train outstanding emergency physicians for our community and beyond.
Our curriculum was developed using a “Flip the Classroom” approach where we integrate didactics, small group scenarios, simulation, and FOAMED resources to augment learning. Our core faculty contribute to this well-rounded curriculum by providing unique expertise in areas such as: ultrasound, EMS, toxicology, and research.
