To all prospective applicants, I appreciate that you are taking the time to learn more about us, and I thank you for your interest! We believe that our fully accredited orthopaedic residency program offers the full range of orthopaedic training, research, and advocacy opportunities to be an incredible orthopaedic surgeon in practice.
We expose our residents to a variety of clinical settings from a pediatric specialty hospital to an immersive orthopaedic oncology rotation to the outpatient surgical center setting to the inpatient orthopaedic service at our primary hospitals, HCA Florida Ocala Hospital (Level I Adult Trauma Center) and West Marion Community Hospital.
Residents will train in a variety of private practice, group practice, and institutional models of physician organizations. Residents are encouraged to research and support is provided for all of our residents to conduct clinical and basic science research. Institutional support is available to help formulate questions, to scan the literature, to test hypotheses, to analyze data, to publish manuscripts, and to prepare presentations. Financial support is given to physicians who present original research at state- or national-level meetings. Residents will also compete at state-level resident competitions, as well as enter into national conference scholarship award programs.
At the end of the day though, residents will work together to continue to shape of the newest and best orthopaedic surgery residency programs in the nation.
I pledge to oversee a resident of dedicated trainees who seek to be ethical, moral, compassionate, and inquisitive. Together we will build a generation of skilled physicians and orthopaedic surgeon leaders for the 21st Century.
Yours truly,
James P. McFadden, MD
