Welcome from our Program Director

Welcome to the Methodist Healthcare System of San Antonio Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program website, and thank you for your interest. We are excited to have this opportunity to share our mission and vision of training the next generation of successful podiatric physicians and surgeons. We are located in the Alamo City, San Antonio, Texas, where in addition to its multi-culture, diversity and historical sites, we are honored and proud to serve the local community and region with excellence in treating lower extremity conditions in amputation prevention and reconstruction related to diabetes, trauma and elective surgery.

About our program

Methodist Hospital, along with its participating sites, has been named among the 2022 Fortune/Merative Top 100 Hospitals® and distinguished as one of the top teaching facilities in the country. Equipped with state-of-the-art resources and an established teaching faculty, our podiatric residents will receive a robust operative experience and education. The clinical and learning environment extend to all Methodist Healthcare facilities in San Antonio and its affiliated teaching institutions.

All rotations will incorporate protected time for residents to attend didactics, lectures, workshops, cadaver labs and conferences that will enhance their learning environment. Residents can expect to be an integral part of administrative decisions as it pertains to patient safety and quality improvement measures, hospital committee memberships and initiatives, and resident well-being.

It is with our dedicated leadership team of faculty, administrators and multidisciplinary staff that we strive to provide quality care to our growing community. We hope that you strongly consider being part of our Graduate Medical Education family in San Antonio, Texas.

Sincerely,
Thomas Zgonis, DPM, FACFAS
