We would like to warmly welcome you to the Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) emergency medicine residency program. RCH is a teaching hospital hosting over 400 medical student rotations from UC Riverside School of Medicine as well as other schools and serves as a regional referral center for higher level of care.  All our faculty hold faculty appointments with the UC Riverside School of Medicine.  We are a level 1 trauma center, comprehensive thrombectomy capable stroke center, and a high-volume STEMI center. The emergency department sees over 100, 000 patients yearly with 20,000 pediatric visits.

We are located in Southern California where beaches, mountains, lakes, national forests, and picturesque deserts give you an opportunity to snowboard, ski, surf, mountain bike, hike, and rock climb. Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego are an easy drive away.

Our training combines state-of-the-art medical care with real-world emergency medicine practice in a highly efficient medical center. Because our residents train in a high volume, high acuity ED environment, our graduates complete the program with enormous confidence. RCH EM residents perform a very high number of procedures, and manage critical patients on a regular basis.  Our residents gain robust pediatric experience through our partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital Orange County, and Riverside University Health System.

At the RCH emergency medicine residency, you will flourish in a positive work and learning environment.  We are the only department in the nation to receive the ACEP Wellness Center of Excellence Award in 2022 in recognition of our wellness initiatives.  Wellness is at the core of what we do every day.  It is the foundation on which we built our residency program.  We have partnered with Claremont Graduate University to create a research lab to further study physician wellness.  Our focus is on autonomy, belonging, competence, meaningful work, and creating a positive work and learning environment.  We want you to flourish not just in residency but decades into your career.
