Welcome from our Program Director

Thank you for your interest in Riverside Community Hospital Transitional Year Residency. Riverside Community Hospital is conveniently located in sunny Southern California in the Inland Empire just east of Los Angeles and Orange County.

Program Overview

  • 17 transitional year residents
  • Flexible curriculum with 5 blocks of electives
  • Orientation Dates: Last week in June
  • Start date: July 1
  • 118,000 ED visits per year
  • 517-bed referral center with a brand new tower built in 2017
  • Opportunity to work with faculty, residents, and students from UC Riverside School of Medicine
  • The only level 1 trauma center in Riverside County
  • Busiest STEMI receiving center in Riverside County
  • Joint commission certified thrombectomy capable stroke center

The Riverside Transitional Year Residency program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents’ perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.

Noon conference Mon-Thurs: Noon - 1:00pm

Residents on FM wards or outpatient clinic
Academic half day on Wed: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Residents on EM or EM Subspecialty Rotation
EM conference on Thurs: 8:00am - 1:00pm

TY specific conference 3rd Friday of every block
Noon - 2:00pm followed by wellness activity

Neurology academic half-day
Every Tues: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

General surgery conference
Every Tues: 7:00am - 10:00am
