Welcome to the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Doctors Hospital of Augusta!
We are pleased to announce the establishment of our ACGME-accredited three-year residency program, which offers eight positions annually. Our mission is to train the next generation of emergency medicine physicians while emphasizing a community-based approach to healthcare. We are dedicated to building a solid clinical foundation and fostering a culture of excellence among our residents.
Located in Augusta, Georgia, our program benefits from the region's rich cultural heritage and diverse patient population, including both urban and rural communities. As a Level II trauma center and recognized Primary Stroke Center, we are home to the largest burn center in the United States, providing residents with valuable experience managing various critical cases.
Our faculty consists of highly experienced professionals with expertise in various aspects of emergency medicine, including clinical toxicology, point-of-care ultrasound, and emergency medical services (EMS) training. We are committed to ensuring that our residents are well-prepared to excel in any clinical environment upon completing their training.
Near the South Carolina border, Augusta, Georgia, is the state's second-largest metropolitan area and is best known for the Masters golf tournament. Founded in the early 1700s along the Savannah River, Augusta has historical significance from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and was the state capital for a time. It's also the childhood home of James Brown, the "Godfather of Soul." Today, Augusta boasts a vibrant culinary scene and a strong appreciation for the arts, outdoor, and food scene, with fabulous festivals, shopping, and restaurants.
As part of HCA Healthcare, our guiding principle revolves around our commitment to the care and improvement of human life. We look forward to engaging with prospective residents and stakeholders in this critical and transformative journey.
