Program Curriculum

Our program will prepare fellows to evaluate and manage patients with but not limited to new onset and chronic heart failure. Procedural competence is a critical portion of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant fellowship. Fellows will be trained to evaluate patients for implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy, mechanical assist devices and endomyocardial biopsies. Our robust conference schedule includes a weekly core curriculum series, weekly case conferences, monthly morbidity and mortality conferences, quarterly quality improvement conferences, quarterly journal club, and semi-annual Ventricular Assistance Device simulation exercises. Fellows will attend outpatient ambulatory continuity clinic and a transplant ambulatory experience. We strive to create a learning environment that balances the rigors of residency training with personal life, allowing our fellows to take full advantage of living in the tropical paradise that is South Florida. We strongly believe that happy and healthy house staff deliver the highest quality care to our patients.
